ORDER OF SERVICE

Welcome and Passing of the Peace

WE INVITE GOD’S PRESENCE INTO OUR HEARTS

Centering Music “Sanctuary”

Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true; with thanksgiving, I’ll be a living sanctuary for You.

Prelude

*Call to Worship

Leader: Our God is great; let us praise God’s great and awesome name!

People: God is Holy!

Leader: Our God loves justice; let us praise God’s justice and righteousness.

People: God is Holy!

Leader: Our God is a leader of the people,

All: let us praise and worship the Lord, for God is Holy.

*Opening Prayer (Unison)

Holy One, we have been called together to do your work, to be a church with purpose: faith nurtured and hearts comforted, gifts shared for the good of all, resistance to the forces that exploit and marginalize, fierce love in the face of violence, human dignity defended, members of a community helped and inspired by God, corrected and comforted, instruments of the loving Spirit of Christ, creation’s mending. We will need your help, for your will is hard. Amen.

*Hymn of Praise “I Woke Up This Morning” #85

Time for Youth

Shared Prayer:  The Lord’s Prayer (sins)

Leader: People of God, what is your prayer for our youth?

Congregation: Our prayer is that they grow up to be like Jesus--strong and brave, full of grace and truth! And, we pray that we will help them. Amen.

WE OFFER GRATITUDE TO GOD

Stewardship Moment

Invitation to Give and Share

God looks upon your face. God assures you when nothing else can. “My presence will go with you,” God says. “I will give you rest,” God prays. Let us carry this spirit into our giving. Let us praise God with our gifts of tithes and offerings.

Offertory “My Lord, What a Morning” arr. by Harry T. Burleigh (Chancel Choir)

*Doxology “We Give You But Your Own” #785

We give you but your own, what e’er the gift may be; All that we have is yours alone, we give it gratefully.

*Prayer of Dedication

O God, it is up to us to share your gospel, using all the resources that you provide. It is up to us to learn our whole story, as your whole people. With these gifts, God, empower us to do your work of sharing the gospel and welcoming all who seek to share in your story. Amen.
