The office of deacon in today’s church has its roots in the office of deacon in the early church. The word deacon comes from the Greek word diakonos which means servant.

The Board of Deacons is a governing Board of the Church. It is comprised of 10 to 12 elected members.
The Deacons care for the Spiritual Life of the Church overseeing spiritual education of members, visiting the sick
and vulnerable, and executing programs to enrich the soul. They support the ministry of the Pastor.

Deacons give leadership to the church’s ministry of serving the physical and spiritual needs of members and friends. Some additional Deacon responsibilities at Webster include:
· Assisting the Pastor in evaluating the strengths, weaknesses and needs of Church worship.
· Oversight with the Pastor of the church music ministry.
· Preparation and assistance with church Sacraments.
